What we can do together?

A Compassionate Community

At ICDI, our work is powered by people who believe in dignity, community, and showing up for one another. Whether you’re offering your time, skills, or lived experience, there are many ways to be part of our mission and make a meaningful difference in the lives of immigrants and asylum seekers.

When you join ICDI, you’re joining a compassionate community committed to walking alongside newcomers as they build safety, stability, and belonging in their new home.

Current Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is a firsthand way to support our immigrant neighbors. Our volunteers provide essential support, guidance, and care that honors each person’s dignity.

Volunteer opportunities for our Welcome and Essentials team may include:

No matter how much time you have to give, your presence matters.

I like the camaraderie of the group of volunteers that I work with. We have fun while we’re working together and I feel that what we’re doing is work that is worthwhile and making a difference.

How To Get Involved

If you’re interested in volunteering, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at hello@icdichicago.org to start the conversation. Together, we can create a welcoming, supportive community.

It’s rewarding to see and experience how grateful and appreciative families are when they come into the warehouse to pick clothing, shoes, hygiene, and household items. Coming in to work with the other volunteers is also a pleasure. We’ve formed a small community of friends that share the same sentiments and values.
